Android Enlightens with iLumi
Lights are very low tech, aren’t they? Well, other than the GreenWave we featured back in October, that is. Oh and other than this too: the all-new world of Android automated illumination from the bright sparks at iLumi and their intelligent LED light bulb…
Led by co-founders Corey Egan and Swapnil Bora, iLumi Solutions is a team of designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs based in Dallas, Texas and India, obsessed both with light and the means to make it work harder. To this end they developed wirelessly controlled, programmable and customisable bulbs that are not only controllable via the use of an app, but which also offer a rainbow of rays thanks to multi-colour options being included.
“iLumi is as easy as screwing in a light bulb and downloading an app.” Said Corey Egan, co-founder and CEO at iLumi Solutions. “We are giving people mastery over their lighting without the complexities and limitations of other specialty lighting and lighting control systems.”
Both Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy are built into the bulb, along with a processor, memory and real-time clock, giving users the ability to adjust, customise, program and schedule one or multiple iLumis with ease. Control options range from fun to functional, such as having lights slowly turn on in the morning with your alarm, to proximity lighting that turns on and off as you move within range, to synchronising your lighting to music and pre-setting colours to suit your every whim.
Energy efficient and boasting a 20-year life span to boot, iLumi can currently be found crowdfunding for capital over on Indiegogo, so if you’re looking forward to the day your Android can even let you see the light, head over now and help them raise their target of US $100,000 and, come spring, mobile mastery could be yours!
